The mini-city that Eli Karp is building on the Prospect Heights/Crown Heights border is expanding beyond the scope of its original name. When construction started at 925 and 935 Pacific Street in early 2006, the project was being referred to as Pacific Blue. Seemed like a fine enough name to us, but at some point earlier this year, the marketing gurus that decide this kind of thing did a name-change, christening the Loading Dock 5-designed development Hello Living. When we passed this construction site at 802 Dean Street, however, it all made sense: Pacific Blue was just too geographically constraining. The sign here suggests it’s the seventh building in the series. Any more in the pipeline? GMAP P*Shark DOB

  1. Man, this comes as a surprise to me. I have been in the process of purchasing a unit since this summer, under the assumption that this was a six building development.

Under the plan, each building houses it’s own amenity to which all Hello Living tenants have access to. Naturally, all tenants are expected to share the cost for all amenities. I wonder if this new addition to the plan is going to feature an additional amenity and whether it will effect the charges I have already agreed to pay.

I also wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that I have been waiting since July for a closing date. Nevertheless, I’m into the idea of expanding the scope of the proposed development. I just wish that I had been told. I don’t want to get blind-sided with additional common charges (which are quite reasonable at this point) at closing if I can help it.
