From the Forum: What Can You Do When a Neighbor Keeps Complaining to the DOB?
A neighbor keeps filing complaints about a homeowner’s permitted renovation project. What can they do?
A homeowner needs some advice on dealing with a neighbor calling in numerous complaints about a renovation project. The homeowner has filed all the appropriate permits and has a contractor performing the work.
The irate neighbor has been filing complaints with the DOB, police and fire departments and is asking for money for damages, although no proof of any damage has been provided.
The DOB is now visiting the site every few weeks and issuing stop work orders. What options do they have?
Please chime in with your advice.
