Church Ave BID’s Graffiti Clean-Up Event
The Church Avenue Business Improvement District, New York City’s Graffiti-Free NYC program, and the Brooklyn Borough President’s Graffiti-Free Brooklyn initiative will be hosting “A Clean Church Avenue” to remove graffiti from storefronts and other buildings. Volunteers from the 70th Precinct’s Explorers Program, merchants, and residents will be picking up brushes and rollers to help paint over graffiti along Church Avenue from Coney Island Avenue to Flatbush Avenue. The clean up will be followed by a volunteer thank you lunch on the grounds of the Flatbush Reformed Church. Volunteers needed! Garden Party with Theophilus London
Theophilius is a rapper, songwriter and producer from Brooklyn. He’s playing for free this weekend at the Weeksville Heritage Center! Saturday, 5pm to 8pm. Free. 1698 Bergen Street, between Buffalo and Rochester.

Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
The Flea features hundreds of top vendors of antique and repurposed furniture, vintage clothing, collectibles and antiques, as well as a tightly curated selection of jewelry, art, and crafts by local artisans and designers, plus delicious fresh food. Saturday in Fort Greene and Sunday in Williamsburg, 10am to 5pm. The Smorg is our all-food market and is Saturday at the Williamsburg location, 9am to 5pm.

This grilled sandwich cookoff will feature Evan Hanczor of Egg in Williamsburg, Ashley Fulk of Hill Country Chicken in Manhattan and “Top Chef” Season 6 and Rick Hauchman of Van Horn Sandwich Shop on Court Street. WNYC host Leonard Lopate will judge. Sunday, 4pm, The Amazing Garden at Carroll and Columbia. $20.
