We’re going to be taking a breather today but if you happen to be online, we’d be interested in hearing your Thanksgiving thoughts as they relate to your neighborhood. Are there changes that have happened over the past year (or years) that you’re thankful for? (Are there any you’re not so thankful for?) Are there any groups (churches, non-profits, etc.) at work in your community that you think particularly embody the spirit of the day? Are any of you spending your day helping those less fortunate than you? Anything but real estate today. And, by the way, don’t click on any url’s in the comments. Someone’s feeling particularly un-Thanksgiving-ish today.

  1. Boy, it’s hard to find any open restaurants on this day. I’m single, had no plans, have no kitchen and didn’t want to spend 30+ on a “prix-fix Thanksgiving special” at ICI, Maggie Brown or Jive Turkey.

Even McDonald’s on Atlantic was closed!

Finally, after 2 hours of searching, found an open Indian restaurant in Prospect Heights.

  2. Actually, What, we celebrate the way the Indians generously shared food with starving Pilgrims *before* we hijacked America from them.

My turkey was moist and juicy!

And your rants about vaporized home equity are holiday fun for the whole family!

    Whatever

Someday this presidency is gonna end…..

  3. Careful with those dirt cheap, European apartments in Buenos Aires, 10:15. The amount of tourists and foreigners that have been gobbling up property has caused a lot of resentment among the millions of locals that were plunged into poverty after the economic crisis in 2002, and there is a tremendous backlash, which expresses itself in “express kidnappings” and violent crimes. A glance of the local papers will fill you in.

    Signed,
    A Buenos Aires native

  4. I heard on WNYC this morning that Two Boots in Brooklyn is cooking Thanksgiving dinner for a bunch of newly-arrived immigrant families. They’re cooking the Turkeys in the pizza ovens and winging it (no pun intended). That’s pretty cool.
