the interesting question is whether the anti-AY sheep will boycott an AY apple store. oh the conflict. will the apple sheep force overcome the anti-AY sheep force? i-hypocrites.
Apple isn’t going to come out and say anything definitive right now because they are very secretive about new store openings.
There absolutely IS space in Atlantic Yards, as most of the thing is going to be a parking lot for the next 10 years. This is all smoke and mirrors until Apple does finally make their announcement on the location of their 1st Brooklyn outpost.
It will be somewhere either in Downtown or here at Atlantic Yards area is my prediction…not IN Atlantic Terminal Mall, however.
though i don’t have exact dates, i can say the likelihood of apple moving into 501 2nd Street (corner of 7th avenue and 2nd street in park slope) is high. apple has been recently looking to position itself as a partner with city education. this should come as a surprise to nobody. and with the recent uptick in schools purchasing ipads for their students, apple is poised to forge a relationship with a name at the top of the list of city education: ps 321. the new apple store will be located directly across the street from ps 321 in park slope. not only will this (literally) put apple in that sought after position alongside city schools, it will allow students convenient access during their lunches to apple products in the store’s two story apple education pavilion. that is, if they don’t care to use the new ipads each student will likely receive as part of the kind gesture apple plans on making to the school after all the dust settles from the major construction.

It seems to me that there isn’t a lot of retail space around Atlantic Yards that fits Apple’s aesthetic… unless they end up building a new store.
i tend to agree with 11217
Marty Markowitz has been lying about an Apple store somewhere in downtown Brooklyn for a couple of years now.
We need schools for all these new residents downtown, not easier access to their iStuff.

This has been discussed to death

As the article itself says, “They’re focusing on the arena area right now, but there’s no space.”
Yawnzies!
One Hanson! Oh, wait – old rumor.
Or, more likely, Atlantic Center…
PS – Who remembers the Microsoft Store at One Hanson rumor? Fun times.
