I TOLD you guys that moonface stuff wasn’t kosher. But did you listen?
You guys are REALLY taking this site WAY too seriously if you’re actually ANGRY about site glitches! What on earth is wrong with you?
Do you realize this happens OFTEN with new sites, even ones not as content-rich as this one (I guess not).
I can’t believe you guys have me defending Brownstoner.com! Such whining.
Yes. Here’s the email:
It’s come to my attention that one of the sites user names is in violation of Brownstoner community standards. The user “moonfaceh8r” other wise know as *rob*. Moonface is highly offensive to people of Japanese decent. I’m sure you and Brownstoner community do not wish to discriminatory towards Japanese users of the site. Please change his user name and moderate usage of the racist term “moonface” on all public post.

Nope. Since starting my own biz, I rarely take the train anymore. After 20 years of taking it every day. You can’t imagine my relief. I was on it yesterday, tho, as it happens. Did you see an ENY look-alike?
Rob wasn’t banned but his username was. We hadn’t been paying close enough attention (a few other things going on) but we got an email from someone who was quite offended by his username, we checked and realized it was the same term that offended some people a few months ago — so Rob knew perfectly well that he was poking a stick in people’s eyes. We emailed him at the address he registered with and told him to pick a name without any racist implications.
For what?
and I never said it was.
