Closing Bell: Gentrification!
The development at 397 Greene Avenue in Bed Stuy is a seven-unit rental building waiting patiently to launch. But apparently there’s someone out there who would rather call this one out for what it is.

Stop this “gentrification” now! Or we won’t have more of these BStoner headlines from today: “Parks Worker Raped in Bed Stuy Park”
and “muggification”?
Does further gentrification mean that this region will have less “stabification” and “shootification” in the future?
What’s funny is that all the neighborhoods being “gentrified” were originally white/Irish/Jewish/Italian working class neighborhoods.
So if yuppies/hipsters/etc are moving in now is it really “gentrification” or just a cycle of life?
Is it really gentrification when a neighborhood is being repopulated and developed after years of a declining population and high vacancy rates than the city average?
I’d bet my right arm that this was written by a colleg-educated white person who’s lived in the neighborhhood less than a year.
Yeah, it’s code for “more white people are coming, get ready for the revolution.”
Is “gentrification” “code???”
