The joy of completing a major renovation can quickly turn to dismay if rodents decide to move in along with you.
According to Atlantic Yards Watch, Council Member Letitia James and the Dean Street Block Association are holding a meeting this Thursday about allegations that the construction of the Barclays Arena has led to a rodent infestation in the area: “Many residents believe construction at the Atlantic Yards site is the origin of the problem, through a combination of disrupted nests, neglected abatement and new food sources. Sources for food and water that sustain the rodents are also available in the nearby residential community, most particularly as a result of improperly contained garbage.” City agencies, the ESDC and Forest City Ratner have been invited to the meeting, which will be held at
the 78th Precinct at 65 6th Avenue from 6 to 7 p.m. Update: The meeting location has been changed to the Soapbox Gallery, at 636 Dean Street between Carlton and Vanderbilt. It will still begin at 6 p.m. promptly on Thursday, June 23rd.
