Sunset Park locals want to rezone the waterfront for green energy jobs and revise the City Charter to allow community-led rezonings.
Industry City leaders pulled the rezoning application for the sprawling Sunset Park complex on Tuesday after a host of Brooklyn lawmakers announced their opposition to the plan.
The question was asked by both residents and politicians at a City Council public hearing around Industry City's proposal to rezone.
More than 100 protesters demonstrated outside the home of City Council Speaker Corey Johnson on Monday to urge the pol to shut down the controversial Industry City rezoning in Sunset Park.
Citing a need for jobs, city planning heads recommended the City Council approve the controversial rezoning application to expand Sunset Park’s Industry City.
Local pol Carlos Menchaca said he asked the developers to pull the rezoning application because they had not yet fulfilled their promises to the community.
Held at Grand Prospect Hall in Park Slope, the meeting, hosted by Community Board 7, seemed split down the middle.
