A third-generation native of Staten Island who got his start working in the family shoe store, Compass broker Joe Tirone lifts the curtain on the borough, what to do and where to go in the latest episode of The Brownstoner Podcast.

Drawing on his deep experience of working for many years in the mortgage foreclosure business before he became a real estate broker and, more recently, helping 170 Staten Islanders whose homes were wrecked in Hurricane Sandy, Joe explains what to do if you are a homeowner headed for foreclosure, or already in foreclosure. Step No. 1 is to reach out to your bank and see if you can get into a forbearance agreement. “A lot of people are in that position; it’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” he said.

Tune into The Brownstoner Podcast to hear Step No. 2, lessons learned working in the family business, and why Joe believes Staten Island is the “chosen borough.” To learn more, visit the Joe Tirone team website.
