Guess Where the Priciest Residential Sale in Brooklyn So Far This Year Is?
Yep, Gravesend. City Records show 420 Avenue S selling for a cool $6 mil. PropertyShark pegs the single-family at 2,697 square feet. Pic from PropertyShark.

Great, now “Church of the Poison Mind” is stuck in my head.

but i guess if we want to stick with your ridiculous analogy, id rather poison myself with chemicals ANY DAY then religion.
*rob*
i smoke less than a pack a day, that’s hardly a stack. it’s also called an addiction lolz. smoking has nothing to do with this argument.
quote:
Better to pay 6 mill for a big beautiful house and walk to shul than poison yourself.
um what? perhaps i pay what i pay in rent just to be able to walk to bodega then :-/

You have some pretty priorities too, rob- you smoke like a stack. Better to pay 6 mill for a big beautiful house and walk to shul than poison yourself, isn’t it? Just because you think it’s ridiculous, doesn’t make it so- as they say, “let he who is without sin, blah, blah, blah…”
excuuuuuuse me bxgirl, but i think it’s moronic to pay 6 million dollars to just to be able to walk somewhere a pray. outright looney tunes! and yes i KNOW people pay premiums for other things like restaurants and parks, but that doesnt justify the ridiculousness of it.

Well benson- you have every right to be proud of that nabe. It’s very beautiful.
Bxgrl;
NOT Hasidim here at all. This is the Syrian Sephardic community. Although they are also orthodox, they dress in a very contemporary and stylish fashion.
Jewish, ch renter. Hasidim- they pay a premium to have a house close to the synagogue because they can walk there on the Sabbath.They observe the sabbath strictly.
What Sparafucile said. THe only thing I would add is that the person is not paying to live in a shack. This home may not be a brownstoners’ cup-of-tea, but they are well-built and spacious, in an area tht is loaded to the gills with equally impressive buildings.
(yes, shameless plug for my home neighborhood.)
