With showings slated to start next week, Douglas Elliman yesterday released a ton of new listings at 365 Bridge Street, the former New York Telephone Building known for its Art Deco design. From what we hear, there are over 500 people on the waiting list to see the place (make of that what you will). At first perusal, we have to say the apartments look pretty attractively priced. A million bucks buys you some real space in a landmark structure with great views. For example, here’s one listing that gets you 1,700 square feet for $1,010,000. By contrast, a similarly priced unit at One Hanson Place is only 1,350 square feet. The biggest negative — in most people’s minds — is the downtown location. But if you believe that the wheels of “progress” are going to keep turning in Brooklyn, it’s only a matter of time before the services in this area are upgraded significantly. Anyhoo, we’re looking forward to getting some field reports from readers.

  1. I walk past that building every day on the way to work. It’s an ugly, smelly street with garbage spilling on the sidwalks, Checks Cashed and 99c stores. Not dangerous but far from getting gentrified any time soon.
