Some of you may have noticed a new byline appearing on the site this week. We’re very pleased to announce that Sarah Ryley, who’s written about real estate and development for the Brooklyn Eagle for the past two years, has joined the editorial team at Brownstoner. Sarah, who’s also written for The Real Deal, The Detroit News and The Oakland Press, will primarily be covering development activity in Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene and the Navy Yard area. A resident of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, she will also be helping to boost our coverage across the park. Welcome, Sarah!
Sarah, beware Brownstoner is declining.
This site is gaining editorial strength, impressive. I second the idea that an economic perspective would be valuable, perhaps picking up some postings from Calculated Risk or something like it.
Congratulations to Sarah from a fellow PLG’er
Don’t diss Detroit!
Lots of transplants read the blog.
Since she’s written about Oakland and Detroit, surely she’s ready to do Crown Heights. lol
Ms. Ryley’s RE articles in the Eagle have always been a cut above the typical puff pieces. IMO she is a very welcome adition to this site.
[AND Sarah’s being a neighbor in PLG doesn’t hurt either]
goodness
Sarah, Sarah
no time is a good time for
Sarah, Sarah
storms are brewing in your eyes
Sarah, Sarah
no time is good time for goodbyes
Sarah, Sarah
storms are brewing in your eyes
Sarah, Sarah
no time is a good time
no-oh-oh-oh-oh
oh-Sarah
why did it, why did it,
why did it all fall apart?
One downside to Sarah’s move: Dennis Holt is writing “news” again at the Eagle, not just his opinion column, and the truth is a victim.
I haven’t read a single article in the Brooklyn Eagle that at all indicates their writers are knowledgeable of economics, let alone the realities of real estate development and population demographics in Brooklyn.
I do hope this writer takes a critical stance in regards to the housing crisis, and doesn’t merely parrot the reactionary NIMBY folk who dominate the various community boards.
That said, I do look forward to more coverage of the less popularly desirable neighborhoods.
