Rental of the Day: 8417 Ft. Hamilton Pkway
Here’s a decent townhouse rental at 8417 Ft. Hamilton Parkway in Bay Ridge. Although the two-story building looks a little drab from the exterior, the inside has a nice old-school feel to it. There are three bedrooms, a large kitchen and your very own Florida Room, plus a backyard and patio. Cool! We know it’s…

We know it’s out in Bay Ridge and this place is also quite close to a mess of highways, but the $2,950 monthly rent for a whole house seems very tempting. What do you think?

I’ve ridden that X1 and the X17 a fair amount BoD, and its true. One is BQE, the other is through NJ – and if you start the stopwatch at the entrance to the tunnel and stop it at the edge of the bridge, 20 minutes is about right.
Of course when I say my commute from Brooklyn Heights is 18 minutes, I mean from door-to-door, e.g., from breakfast nook to desk.
I think the vast majority of MY COMMUTE FROM BFE IS 20-30 MINUTES tall tales don’t include walking, transfers, or platform waiting time.
hell, my boss from STATEN ISLAND, claims his Xpress bus only takes 20 mins to Battery Park!
Awesome – now we’re going from the next to last exit before Verrazano Narrows to BPC in 20 minutes. Because, ya know, they have their own HOV lane. I’ve heard some awesome “its only 30 minutes to FiDi/Union Square/midtown” whoppers over the years, but this might be the best one yet.
Meant to say 4 or 5, not 2,3.
Express bus gets to Battery Park in about 20 minutes. If going uptown get off and take the train – 2,3 or R
N express at 59th st or D express at 36th. Both would have you in midtown 45-50 mins. Now that the M train has been eliminated, they are very good about local/express connections so there is very little platform wait during peak time. I can get to Whitehall from 77th st in approx 35 mins by going local/express/local.
Where do you pick that up, 71? 45th St? I just know one time I took express, missed the change, and ended up way out of the way (and no way to fix it except backtrack).
Yeah, OK, is it only 17 stops on express? I’m not gonna bother counting. BFD, it’s either an hour and ten minutes or 61 minutes. EACH WAY.
Don’t you people know about the express train?
ty – actually, I think its 26. First year here I had a sublet in Chelsea and a gf in Bay Ridge (86th & Gelston – 25 friggin’ stops).
Neither one lasted very long.
