Rental of the Day: 370 Ocean Parkway
We’re not overly fond of that curving kitchen counter, but otherwise this three-bedroom rental at 370 Ocean Parkway in Kensington looks interesting. First off, it’s big! Also really close to all the good stuff on Cortelyou. Think it’s a deal?

Snark-There was nothing to get out of the car and see! Seriously, tell me what to look for next time we’re there. Seriously. Courtelyou seemed like 3 blocks long with 2 restaurants. Where are the shops? Where are the parks?
WholeMilk – Getting out of your car and actually walking around the area might be a good start.
The apartment seems pretty great. However, someone needs to explain to me the appeal of this neighborhood. We drove around last week, and I have to say, did not see much on Courtelyou or anywhere else. Someone please clue me in to what I’m missing. I really want to like this neighborhood–and buy a large 3 bed/2 bath for $550!
I have a friend who just rented out his DP house. $3,500 was the most his realtor thought he could get, so he rented it for that amount.
bessie2,
Can you show me a sample listing of a 6BR house for $3500?
The last DP house rental I saw on B’stoner was $5500 for a 4BR place.
I’m pretty sure the view from the 60-foot terrace is amazing. And the restaurants, bars and coffee shops on Cortelyou Road in Ditmas Park are only about a five to ten minute walk from there. But, yes, takes about an hour door-to-door to Midtown from there.
It’s a nice apartment but you can rent a whole 6 bedroom house in Ditmas Park about 2 blocks from the Newkirk Q stop for $3,500.
If you are looking at a 3BR, you are quite possibly a family so generally not a lot of going out/coming home after 11pm anymore. If you are bunch of singles splitting the rent, then yes it’s a much better deal I suppose.
You could get more in Bay Ridge but the R doesn’t get you into Manhattan or back to Bay Ridge after 11. You’d be stuck with a transfer at 59th st from the N.
