Rental of the Day: 576 Jefferson Avenue
This two-bedroom brownstone rental at 576 Jefferson Avenue in Bed Stuy has some intense historic details for sure. And check out that pink exterior! The woodwork is pretty interesting, but we’d imagine wood that dark may be a turn off for some. And we’re hoping there’s more kitchen counter space than the built-in bar shown…

Otherwise, the apartment has personality and could be a fun place to make your own. It would take some work though, and this is a rental. It’s going for $1,600 a month.

this is the reason why these rents are so ridiculously high!
Below are the newly updated Section 8 Payment Standard for Section 8 tenants effective October 1, 2010. The Section 8 Payment Standards is the most Section 8 is willing to pay a landlord for an apartment.
Number of Bedrooms: 0 (studio) Section 8 Payment: $1,283
Number of Bedrooms: 1 Section 8 Payment: $1,387
Number of Bedrooms: 2 Section 8 Payment: $1,543
Number of Bedrooms: 3 Section 8 Payment: $1,899
Number of Bedrooms: 4 Section 8 Payment: $2,135
Number of Bedrooms: 5 Section 8 Payment: $2,455
is this 2 bed worth 1600? hells no. but if the government is paying 1543 of it guaranteed every month for a similar apartment then landlords price gouge.

This is fully renovated. The location is good. Seems a bit overpriced for 1.5 bedrooms, though. Maybe $1500.
What is up with the screen in the entry? I can’t get a look at the detail. Is that art nouveau? Very unusual.
About $300-400 over priced. You could rent a fully renovated 2bdrm in Bed Stuy for under that price.
