Rental of the Day: 1609 Union Street

This looks like a lovely floor-through garden apartment, with an old-world feel you don’t typically get with rentals (and even with garden levels in a lot of houses). The property is located at 1609 Union Street, though, which is all the way out by Troy Avenue, not what most people would consider to be the most “prime” part of Crown Heights. Given that, what do you make of the $1,700-a-month price tag?

too high. maybe $1300-1400.
and the tennis courts at Lincoln Terrace.
Price tag is a tad high ($200) but here is the beauty of that location. Access to transportation. Four minutes to the Lexington Avenue number 4…20 minutes to Wall Street…35 minutes to Midtown. Buses are nearby which can take you to Downtown Brooklyn, Kings Plaza, Canarsie, Bed Stuy or the airport. Walking distance to the Children’s Museum and the St. Johns Rec and park.
Lovely, block and the neighbors are neighborly. There are several homes where children have bought out or inherited the homes they grew up in. (Which I think speaks to the long term desiraility/viability of the block.)
I agree that the price is more than a tad high. Come down out of the rafters! Yikes.
Nice floors.
$1200, $1300 max if everything is in good shape. It is pretty quiet down there, and the blocks are nice, but no one in their right mind will pay that much when you can get an equal apartment closer to downtown, the subway, and more amenities, such as they are, in both Crown Heights North and South for around $1250.
“what do you make of the $1,700-a-month price tag?”
A mockery.

I think that price is too high for that location, BUT it does look like a nice space. That block is very quiet and at least you’re two block from Utica, where you can get basic goods. I’m thinking they’ll get that price for that space, especially if there really is backyard access.
