Rental of the Day: 177 Amity, #6
For a studio apartment, this cute unit at 177 Amity isn’t bad at all. The partitioning does a good job of creating separate cooking, dining and living spaces. And there are a few nice touches, like the fireplace, that give the apartment personality. The listing says it’s a “co-op short rental” so who knows how long you’d be able to shack up here. It’s going for $1,500/month.

Broker wrote me this:
The apartment is for sale.
Maximum rental is to mid Feb 2012
One month Corcoran fee
I will need to show for an hour on Sunday at Open House
You would get 90 days notice
ad say will give 90 day notice – max of 9 months… doesn’t say how much notice tenant needs to give–or how much fee to movein
^^^Hm. Well this unit is definitely for sale right now too.
most co-ops do not allow “summertime sublets”. You have to rent for a minimum of a year and a maximum of three years.
It’s actually a great deal for people looking for a short term sublet…..You can pay way above regular market rate for that.
The rent is actually a little below market for what’s a somewhat larger than average studio in Cobble Hill. And the possible month to month thing is not a problem for someone looking for a summertime sublet.
Hard to believe, but this does have a certain charm. Awfully small though. Hopefully the renter doesn’t own more than one box of clothing.
most co-ops allow units to be rented for up to three years. after that, the owner needs to sell or move back or leave it empty.
My bad – not sixth floor, it’s a 15 unit bldg, this is #6. So probably third floor? Still, who would want this kind of uncertainty at what looks like market price? Oh, I can get booted with 30 days notice at any time? Sign me up!
