Rental of the Day: 330 Wythe Avenue, #4K
Wow. This one and a half bedroom at Williamsburg’s 330 Wythe is pretty interesting. There’s no shortage of space, and the high ceilings make the apartment feel even bigger. Of course loft living in Williamsburg no longer comes cheap: This rental is asking $5,500 a month. Thoughts?

I do not disagree, she controlled everything and sold basically to “insiders”. Hence, no advertising. I was pretty clued into everything going on in the neighborhood, I had been shopping around for a place there for a long time and this sold out quickly and quietly.
realfly, the developer micro-managed the offering plan. I knew her well enough to be able to look at some apartments, but only the low-ceiling duplexes on the south side of the building–I wasn’t important enough to look at the loftier lofts on the north side. In the end, I walked away and know several other people who did as well.
Bitter? You have no idea.
I’ve actually done a lot of work in that building, 5 loft build-outs. You might even say that’s how I launched my firm.
The spaces are really amazing. They were originally delivered with a one wall kitchen, a bath, and roughing for laundry.
It was mostly occupied by a lot of artists and do-it-yourselfers, so each job was a completely different experience. It was a lot of fun, and there was definitely no doorman back then.

a doorman for a loft building?
:-/
*rob*
I always loved this building. I used to drive by it when it was boarded up and lust after it. Then one day I drove by and it was renovated. The owner sold it out under the radar, my radar in particular. I was very disappointed. The building would really rock if it had a doorman and garage.
i want to love it but it feels so drab to me. more like the office of some hipster ad agency than a home.
Lamb is right, but this unit does have one of those tiny terraces that face out to the south (you can see the doors in the photo). Low floor, but probably still has nice views (at least until Domino gets built, but hey, it’s a rental!).
I like the brick. It makes a very nice background for almost anything (painting, wall hanging, etc) that one might want to put up. Not too crazy about the unpainted ceilings, though. Sort of gives the apartment all the warmth and feeling of cleanliness of a parking garage. I wonder if some of the discoloration I noticed near the ceiling, by the windows, might indicate some water seepage or leakage. The kitchen, though, is sort of sucky for $5500/month.
I love this building. I can’t imagine shelling out $5500/mo for a one bedroom, but I guess it’s possible somebody else can. also worth noting that the terrace space pictured is the bldg’s common roofdeck, not private to this unit.
