We don’t see many rentals from Wallabout, which is why this two-bedroom at 275 Park Avenue caught our eye in the Brownstoner Marketplace. In addition to 1,000 square feet of high-ceilinged loft space, you get a doorman, a free stint at the spa downstairs, a roof deck, and an in-house laundry room. The asking rent is $2,200 a month. Think this is too much for this side of the BQE or do the space and perks justify the price?

I don’t work for that building…I work in a design studio but I live across the street and I like my neighborhood so I defend it. I do have several friends who live in chocolate factory so I know what the building is like. My friend has a loft over 1000sf and pays around $2100 I think because she’s been there for nearly 7 years. That sounds pretty cheap to me like YOU live in the building. Sorry your management sucks…didn’t mean to upset you. If you’re unhappy, move out. That’s what I would do.

  2. Renette,

you must work for this building. You always seem to have the same super-positive reviews (all be it with qcslightly different avatar/name) whenever anyone is bad-mouthing this building… for example at any news site that reported that building is being sued for $1M by a former tenant.

    Anyway….

is it a horrible, horrible building to live in? No. Is it luxury and worth the cost? Far, far from it. The management is also inept in every possible aspect of their duties.

  3. A friend just sent me this link so I really must comment:

I actually live on the same block between Park and Flushing and I don’t find it “dark or scary”…been here 6 years. Il Porto is right here…some of the best brick oven pizza in Brooklyn if you ask me, Mojito in the middle of the block and this building on the corner has a great grocery store with beer and wine. Also 2 great art galleries on the block plus RePop…where I have purchased many cool items over the past few years. My bank is even on the corner like 30 paces from my door. The bus on Park also drops you 2 blocks from the York F train in less than 10 minutes which is faster than walking to the G train and I get to my Chelsea studio in about 30 minutes. Best part of all…VERY QUIET ANT NIGHT and I sleep like a baby. It just sounds to me like a lot of people haven’t actually been to the area lately…living this side of the BQE is pretty awesome so don’t knock it till you try it kids:) People felt the same way about Williamsburg when I lived there 15 years ago….a neighborhood is what you make it…and I think Wallabout is pretty cool. That’s just this gal’s opinion….

I really like this site…good stuff!

  4. I have to say, I really like this neighborhood. It is quiet and out of the way but everything is pretty close. The public transportation is bad around there, but at least there is some. Better to have a car for that area. I think the size of those apartments are good and I would’ve taken one but they only had a BQE facing apt available. No thanks! The other was not facing the BQE and was nice but had an app on it already.
I ended up taken something else in the area for same money but less space, but at least I wasn’t facing the BQE.
