The emergence of a jail-themed jungle gym at the Tompkins Houses in Bedford Stuyvesant has the community in an uproar. Black and Brown News, which ran this image earlier this week, did some homework and found that NYCHA was responsible for ordering it earlier this week. I don’t think they should put that there in a neighborhood where many Blacks and Latinos go to jail,” one resident of the public housing complex told BBN. “My son will ask me, Mommy, if I go in there, will I go to jail. As of yesterday, NYCHA had told BBN it was “looking into” the matter and there had been no response yet from the mayor’s office. Pretty mind-boggling and offensive, no?

bxgrl, I don’t think rob believes it’s 100% at all. You got to admit that the situations he describes do not warrant living offf the teat of the government.
He never said 100%, you did.
All true, Dave, but it’s the percentage that counts. I suspect it’s rather small, as in single digits. I get the impression that Rob thinks the people who are NOT cheating the system are in the single digits, and I have a big problem with that. That’s the trouble with making blanket statements like that.
All systems and agencies are frought with corruption, inefficiency, and ineptitude. That doesn’t mean we don’t keep trying to do what is right. Correct the problems, sure, but we don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater.

damn, it stinks in here!

GACK! lol. i guess if being a republican means having no sympathy for people who dont better their lot in life on their own accord, then so be it.

“he gets the Republican of the Day Award. :)”
Rob, Speech!! Speech!!
According to rob, 100% of the people in projects are scamming. But considering the state of the economy and financial industry, I think we should focus on the fact that the real issue is not the subsidies to poor people, but the irresponsibility of those much higher up and making far more money. Poor people didn’t trash the economy, after all.
“Joe from BK….you sound clueless.”
Funny…you sound cantankerous.
Although I think this discussion should be refocused on the specific issue, I think rob’s comments do apply to a certain poertion (I don’t know what %) of people living in these projects, everywhere throughout the country irregardless of race.
I think where the situation he describes is an accurate one, he’s spot on and I applaud him on calling it out. Again, it’s there, not sure what % but therea rea MANY abusers and the system is run by the governments and by definition it is poorly managed, inept, incompetent and inefficient.

Rob, I’m not even rising to the bait. The more you rant, the more ignorant you appear. You are on your own.
