Hey, Just wanted to say hi to the PLUSA nation from snowy Toronto. Everything went OK (I think) with the move & my new colleagues are very nice. Very busy getting everything set up and so won’t be around much for a while but I will be back in NYC in early March for at least one weekend, maybe two.
Speaking of Confucius and kidding aside,
have you ever perused through a copy of the
I Ching (The Book of Changes)?
What an amazing distillation of wisdom and
deep thought.
the interpretations of the Hexagrams have
an almost other worldly certainty and weight.
amazing.
Perhaps the silliest and most offensive “Confucius says” takeoff I saw was on the old Uncle Floyd show (a faux kiddie show that used to “air” on channel 68 out of east orange, NJ. Host Floyd Vivino (the eponymous “uncle”) dressed up as a kind of Charlie Chan figure, and an overweight sidekick dressed up as his son, complete with the pony tail. Floyd would spout phony Chinese nonsense sounds for 20 second and stop. His son would invariably ask “what you mean by that, pop?” And then Floyd would crack some silly parody of a fortune cookie adage. ANyone else privy to this bit of high art comedy?
Arkady, thanks. I just got the return by email and it looks ok, so I am going to drop it for this year, but it is really time for me to switch accountants – this has been brewing for a while. Because he knows me for so long, he thinks everything and anything is ok. That is some people’s idea of treating customers like family.

maybe dead in here Rob,,,,that is because we all had to go read the whole COTD and haven’t had time to post.
CGar actually yelled.

from what I hear, DIBS has had more Chinese in him than Confucius.
Confucius say;
Man with sliding wood in pockets
is man with many open doorways.
Biff,
Now that would be Hot Pockets.
just saw the 11217 blogicide. Place will be worse without him no matter how opinionated he is…
