Open House Wrap-Up: Crazies in Park Slope
There was not a lot of consensus in the Open House Picks comments over the weekend. Now we’d like to hear from people who actually tore themselves away from their computers to walk through some real live real estate. Any feedback on these places or any others? We’re all ears. We saw the 6th Ave house (betw 5-6th I think). Had been a burn out “many years ago” so it was gut reno’d…looks like in the 70s. Disappointingly void of any features except exposed brick wall. Back yard tiny. Master bedroom large…2.5 baths. Seeing it made me love our own Clinton Hill house with much bigger backyard and details. Hard to believe they will get $1.65M for that house.
State Street?
I went to the 11th street open house – the reno is very nice, but the style in which the house was done locks you into this minimalist urban decor – may not be for everybody.
As mentioned above, there is no backyard – but a nice deck.
I also posted about crazy lady living four houses away – apparently she’s finally been carted away to a nut house.
That park slope house is ugly — new renovation that looks like it came out of the 70s.
The thrill is in the chase; or more specifically, the fantasies that inform the chase.
I love this…when the houses were posted 62 comments pontificating on value based on web pictures…when asked who went – 4 people…awesome you couldn’t make this stuff up…
Now I’m sorry that I missed the Stuy house. They stripped all that woodwork or was it never painted in the first place?
I toured the 11th street house in Park Slope.
The renovation was really nice. Not many shortcuts were taken. Being so close to 6th avenue, the major problem is the lack of a back yard. I would think it’s going to be hard to get 2.1 million in the South Slope without a yard. There also was no basement. All the mechanicals were on the garden level.
The rental unit was done very nicely as well. Although it is on the top floor right above the would-be-owners bedrooms. I’m betting it can get a little noisy with the hardwood floors.
I did find the agent a bit useless. I asked him the square footage and he said somewhere between 3000 and 4000 sq. ft. That’s a big range. My guess it’s closer to 3000 sq. ft.
I also saw the stuy house – it was in great shape inside – the facade needed some work. I agree – I think they will get the money. Its a lovely home
the woodwork on the parlor floor was amazing wasn’t it !
