Yes. When I bought my first house in Clinton Hill in 1990 (from broker-owner Naida McSherry, who I believe is now retired), I asked her about that building, and she answered quite honestly: “It’s a brothel.”
babs, sounds like those old ladies were letting their freak flag fly high.
The Graham Home is a great condo, but what’s even better is telling people that before it went condo (and after the old ladies died off) it was another kind of house for ladies — I think it was called the Bullwhip Inn, and it had red lights strung all along the entry walk, in case you didn’t get what went on there. I think it operated well into the 1990’s.
The broker from Elliman is clearly misrepresenting the square foot area of this place.. Not more than 1,600 square feet based upon my calculations.
I suggest she take down any reference to the square foot area or risk being sued.
Maybe she can explain??
Wanted to correct something I posted above – I went by the Montague Street property and it is not the same one that was on the market earlier in the year. That one was the same line but on a lower floor.
Let’s please remember not to hold Mr. B. responsible for the quality of the weeks’ listings. If it were my site, I would be looking for best, worst, weirdest, most….
Ok on Pierrepont, understand. My only point is that even with that, it’s a pretty boring looking apartment.
Do we go through this every weekend? I think we did last weekend with the houses. These aren’t “picks” as in “best buys”, they are just interesting listings for discussion.
You are always welcome to look up your own picks online, which is all that Brownstoner does.
35 Pierrepont is a little interesting bsc it’s an old school full-service building, one of a handful left in Brooklyn. Doorman, Elevator man, Mail delivered to your door, garbage picked up twice a day from outside your “service entrance”, etc. Nothing that I want to pay for but it is an interesting bldg.
Completely agree.
There’s almost no value in the Pierrepont listing. Whoever is “drooling” above must have some financial stake in its sale, methinks. The others, on a per square foot basis, don’t seem to really offer much outstanding value to the dollar. Montague Street looks like something I can just peruse myself.
