i’ve been living on wyckoff for 1.5 yrs and haven’t had anything remotely creepy happen. the street is lively at all hours, and there’s nearly always a cop tucked away at the north corner of hoyt & wyckoff, people look out for one another.
that said, there was a non-fatal shooting nearby at 6am sunday – someone who resisted a theif after his gold chain. the cops and an ambulance were there immediately.
Did anyone see the house on Bainbridge?
The post below is correct. You have to be careful in all of these neighborhoods because the streets get pretty lonely at night and we do still live in a city. Don’t let you guard down just because you live in Park Slope. There are two muggers going around Park Slope right now putting guns to people’s heads as they enter their brownstone. Just make sure you look around you when you are walking at night. They seem to target people who are distracted using the cell phone, listening to an ipod, etc…
Most “brownstone bklyn” neighborhoods have a couple of muggings/”incidents” a week…check out the park slope brooklyn paper, or the bklyn heights paper.
Wyckoff area – if you read the police blotter in the local Brooklyn Papers (Carroll Gardens) you will notice that there is always at least one or two muggings in this area a week.
Most of Boerum Hill is very close to city housing
projects. I don’t think that block is particularly affected by it more than the others. It is a very attractive block. And no – I dont live on that block or street but did walk down it last night when I saw the open house listing.
Ah, good to know. Thanks.
For the Wyckoff Street listing, just be advised that that particular block is sandwiched in between housing projects.
Brownstoner, check out this website. http://www.paulrademacher.com/housing/ .It’s a modification of google maps and craigslist. Choose New York from the pull down menu. Then zoom in and move over to our part of town. All of craigslists sales and rental will show up on the map; some even with pics. If you really want a good look you can even get a satellite view. There’s gotta be way for you to do something like this with your listings. Google is da bomb.
