How the mighty have fallen! When we first wrote about the charming but dilapidated cluster of four buildings at 38-44 Washington Avenue back in 2007, the owners were optimistically trying to fetch $6.5 million for them. By the time we checked back in again in late 2008, the asking price had dropped to $3 million, where it remained until finally going in to contract last month. There’s no official word on the final sale price yet, but some little birdies are telling us it’s mighty close to $2 million. Of perhaps greater interest to the community is what the sale will mean for the retail space formerly occupied by the Navy Yard Lounge.
