Be@schermerhorn is definitely turning out to be a turnaround success story. Last month we reported that, after four months back on the market, the 246-unit condo at 189 Schermerhorn Street between Smith and Hoyt Streets, was 50 percent sold. Now, three weeks later, it’s 60 percent sold and, as these photos from this morning show, move-ins are underway. A look at the current listings shows available units ranging in price from $265,950 for a 444-square-foot studio to $741,000 for a 1,037-square-foot two-bedroom.

  1. Compare the prices here to what people are paying at an inferior location in the Toren. Reasonable is a relative term–the proximity to transportation, dining, shopping etc etc makes this a decent value.

  2. butterfly,

i’m not sure how you can back that up comparing be@schermerhorn to other projects in the area and around the city. seems to me to be one of the better deals around on a price per sq ft basis.

  3. “ugh, isn’t anyone tired of the same old 2 room layout already”

Probably. It happens in the suburbs too so a lot of people don’t care that the layout is generic as long as they don’t have to actually renovate it to be livable.

  4. Agreed 11217, it’s great to see so many people coming to the area and some of the projects getting completed like the subway connection for the A,C,R,F; new streets & sidewalks for the Fulton Mall. There’s even a new restaurant in the new hotel on Duffield.
