A few months ago we noticed work beginning again at the stalled development 23 Caton, which has seen its share of troubles. Right across the street is 22 Caton, a lot where a Karl Fischer design was once planned. Now, city records show for that 22 Caton has sold for $2,850,000. As it turns out, the buyer is The Hudson Companies, our old friends from the Third + Bond blog. David Kramer, from Hudson, tells us they are in the very beginning stages, but think they’ve got a great location. The architect just hired is Kiss + Cathacart. If the project pulls through quickly, and 23 Caton keeps moving, this block will be looking a whole lot different in no time. GMAP

  1. I live in this neighborhood. I sure hope they put in underground parking. The sewer pipes already overflow during heavy rains; how are they going to accommodate even more people? I dread this. We already have the hulking skelator at 23 Caton. Can’t we just have an empty lot with kitties and wildflowers just a little while longer?

  2. There is no work going on at 23 Caton place, and nothing noticeable has happened there since the city remedied the unsafe conditions. But it is good to hear that development will pick up again at 22 Caton Place. I don’t know if the 22 Caton lot is zoned for mixed-use, but if it is, I hope the owners will be wise enough to bring in more commercial space in the neighborhood, and especially services that we need. We don’t need any more day care centers, real estate agents or dry cleaners. We do need restaurants, bars and groceries.
