Here’s a new FSBO house that popped up in the Brownstoner Marketplace. The two-family brownstone is at 509 Decatur Street in Bedford Stuyvesant and is asking $625,000. While the kitchens leave something to be desired, overall the house has a nice historic vibe with tons of original details. The location–at Ralph Avenue–may be a bit further out than many Brownstoner-reading house-hunters want to be (Clinton Hill East this is not) but the block is impressively intact for a non-Landmark area; it’s all three- and four-story townhouses with not a single empty lot. Very pretty. What do you make of the price?

  1. Bkboerumhill, I saw them because they all have signs out front. The multi-family is Corcoran (I think) and the two family further west is Flateau. DNK, pleased to meet you here! great info about those houses. Thanks!

Curious how they were originally set up and what kind of details.

  3. There’s also a three- or four-family for sale on this block with very nice details and lovely tenants. One block further East, several of those houses with the fanciful tops are for sale. Wonder why so many are for sale all at once — coincidence?

  4. It’s a beautiful block and I know a few people who live on it. It’s very conveniently located near the A train and walkable from Lewis shops as well as the beautiful Saratoga Park. It is very close to the projects, but I haven’t heard of anyone having a problem. I walk by here all the time. The price seems reasonable for a house in move-in condition, details, upgraded mechanicals, etc, in this location. DNK, we are neighbors. FYI, Flateau has another two family for sale one block closer to Stuyvesant. No idea re condition. It’s hard to find a place with upgraded mechanicals and details, and the price is right.
