House of the Day: 48 2nd Place

This classic Carroll Gardens Italianate is well located on one of the Place blocks – at 48 2nd Place, to be exact – which means it has an unusually deep front garden. Built in the 1850s, the four-story brownstone is set up as a single family, and appears to have most of its original detail intact. There are six marble mantels, crown moldings, pocket doors and a center stair.
