House of the Day: 429 Washington Avenue

This brick house at 429 Washington Avenue between Gates and Greene has been in the same hands for six decades. It’s definitely a little worse for the wear, but there appears to be enough original detail that the 21-foot-wide house has the potential to be brought back into good form. And the $1,600,000 asking price qualifies as positively low for the neighborhood at this point. Anyone know what kind of shape the bathrooms and kitchen are in? In the absence of any photos suggesting otherwise, we assume they will need a lot of work.

UPDATE: We’ve just heard that there has been a lot if interest in this house and that the broker will be accepting highest and best offers until 3 pm on Friday.
