The Aesthetic Movement walnut burl wood work and marble mantels in this 1881 house at 205 Hancock Street are making us swoon. We don’t love all of the renovation choices (the wall-mounted oven floating in the middle of drywall covering the fireplace in the kitchen, the back of a closet jutting into a bedroom) but those are easily fixed, and the updated kitchen and the whole house are otherwise very attractive.

This stretch of Hancock Street is one of the best blocks of Bed Stuy architecturally speaking, and where the annual house tour has concentrated the last two years. Another house in this row is featured in the book “Design Brooklyn,” which came out Tuesday. The house was designed by Isaac Reynolds. For $1,600,000, how do you like it?

Morrill who designed the Pfizer Mansion that is standing today (the real Phizer Mansion was done by Amzi Hill) and Lafayette Presbyterian Church in Ft Greene to name a few…
