This three-story brick house at 157 West 9th Street might be a little too close to the BQE for some; on the other hand, it’s only a block from Buttermilk Channel and three from Frankie’s! The stoopless three-family brick has been on the market for at least a year, starting out at $1,550,000, which was clearly way too big an ask. Depending on what brokerage site you look at, you can now pick it up for $1,100,000, a price that’s probably still too high. It’s hard to see how this tops a million bucks, isn’t it?

  1. Still, it’s a house in Carroll Gardens. Don’t be too shocked when someone (not me) picks it not too far from ask. Consider that nearby condos the size of one floor in this house are going for high 900s to $1.3mm. Not saying I agree, jussayin’ . . .

  2. I lived on this block for two years and while you get used to the BQE shaking the house, you don’t get used to the traffic every morning on W9 and the foot traffic from the train at all hours. If all the bedrooms are in the back it wouldn’t be too bad.
I had a 2 bedroom across the street (2nd bedroom was small) and it was $1600 in 2007 so you should be able to get at least that for a 2 bedroom on this block now.
