Other than the kitchen island cabinetry, we’re digging this brownstone at 205 6th Avenue in Park Slope that just hit the market with an asking price of $2,725,000. While generously proportioned and still in possession of many of its original details despite a rather thorough renovation, the house lacks a one-of-a-kind status and is located on an avenue, so it’ll be quite interesting to see if it can achieve its asking price. Should be quite a bullish sign for the area if it can!

  1. This is a beautiful, huge, apparently well-renovated home for someone who wants to be close to the hustle and bustle of Park Slope and who doesn’t mind a near-prison-yard styled backyard and who doesn’t mind the lack of central AC.

    Hefty price, but… who knows?

  2. You must be looking at something else, Pigeon because this stretch of 6th Avenue is extremely shaded with large trees. Perhaps not RIGHT in front of this house (can’t remember exactly) but this whole section of 6th is very quiet and lovely.

We live in NYC and the amount of people who get carried away at the thought of the tiniest amount of noise (or living next to an animal clinic…OMG not an ANIMAL CLINIC!!) is downright funny.

The more I think about it, the more I really love this location.

This is not the case at this section of 6th Ave!

If you googlestreetview this property, you will see an 18-wheeler rumbling by. There are no trees directly in front of this home, and only young trees down the block.

  4. Looks like a well-renovated, traditional Italianate brownstone. The garden is also traditional, attractive, and functional. There’s nothing “strange” or “scrappy” about it.

  5. Being on an avenue shouldn’t be a negative in this case. Sixth Avenue is very quiet, narrow and tree-shaded, just like the cross streets in this area.

Not perfect (no central air or working fireplaces, all the woodwork is painted, no ensuite master bath, no parlor floor powder room or closet, kind of a strange back yard), but there are always compromises to be made. Overall, I think this is a great house in a great location.
