Most of the units at 80 Metropolitan are condominium apartments, but there’s a row of townhouses on North 1st Street that also get to take advantage of the development’s communal services. This one at 63 North 1st Street has had a hard time making up its mind about its asking price: It started out in February 2008 at $1,635,000, and ticked up later in the year to $1,665,000 before getting delisted in July. It reemerged at the depths of the market this winter with a price of $1,295,000, and then a couple of weeks ago got bumped up to $1,400,000. Given that it’s 2,100-square-feet of freshly constructed space, do you think this is achievable?

d_h, I looked at some Mill Building units a while back too. It’s an incredible building with lovely spaces. As true mostly very large loft spaces, they do not offer the kind of convenient family living that these town-houses offer. But they’re “cooler” spaces for sure.
These units are significantly larger than the red brick middle-income housing on 3rd and Bedford. Those are 2BR units with much smaller combined living/dining areas and a total square footage around 1000, and they lack the ground floor rec rooms in these units. Also, most of the middle-income units have no yard at all. The 80 Met units are literally twice the size.
I’m not sure why they don’t use real photos, but there’s really nothing to hide about these units in terms of the interiors. They’re lovely. So are the little backyards. The exteriors are plain to ugly, as is the block.
11217 – curbed ran some photos of the interior of this building a month or two ago – and it’s pretty nicely done. (if you’re actually interested in what it really looks like)
Anyone considering this should walk a block north and check this out instead

I think so, dirty? They run for a few blocks. Those might be built as two-families, also? Just kind of interesting to see the contrast in luxury vs. basic housing… and how it reflects the change in the neighborhood.
It also makes me wonder, in twenty years, will there be any price difference between them?
Mt. Molehill,
With all due respect, if the place has been on the market for 2 years, they should be showing actual photos.
If they are showing the renderings instead, it means they are trying to hide something. It’s been on the market for almost 2 1/2 years…I think there’s been time to snap some photos.
On closer inspection, those are renderings, but they’re pretty accurate with regards to the interiors. I don’t know why they wouldn’t use real photos, since these are already built out and look great. Also, they should post floorplans, as the units are very well planned.
Those appear to be real photos. I’ve been in a couple of them, and that’s exactly what they look like.
These are actually pretty sweet on the inside–true 3BR, well laid out, nice little yard, great finishes. And 80 Met offers arguably the highest level of amenities of all the condos. It’s a shame that the exteriors are so drab, and that it’s such an ugly block. Still, their size and truly comfortable family living present a pretty rare opportunity.
