House of the Day: 66 Midwood Street
If you’re looking for a pricey house on Midwood Street in PLG, now’s your moment! We’ve already mentioned three houses asking at least $1,500,000–#20, #22, #77–and now there’s a fourth: 66 Midwood. At $1,849,00, it’s the most expensive of the four and, we believe, the most expensive in the neighborhood ever! Not surprisingly, the woodwork…

At $1,849,00, it’s the most expensive of the four and, we believe, the most expensive in the neighborhood ever! Not surprisingly, the woodwork and other interior details are to die for and the Romanesque Revival exterior is pretty impressive too. These are big numbers to try and fetch this far out though so we shall see.

I agree with the kitchen defenders. The cabinet doors do have that plastic laminate / rigid thermofoil home improvement store look, but they also appear clean and perfectly functional. Not my dream kitchen, but I could certainly live with it for years while saving up for a replacement.
Babs – you’re sounding like a broker” “it’s 25 minutes, door to door, from the Q at the Prospect Park Station to Union Square”
Door to door does not mean station to station, thats why people differentiate and say “door to door” to tell you the actual length of the commute from the house to the destination, not the time spent between the first and last subway stops. Unless this house is above the Prospect Park Station entrance…
There is no comparison between the F and Q/B lines. Waiting for the F can take an eternity. The B or Q comes every few minutes.

wow… and not even as nice as the others… and a kitchen that needs replaced.
…
We look forward to the link of your kitchen. It must be fab if you think this one needs to be redone.
I really dont get these prices. The house is gorgeous, they are all gorgeous. But Almost 2 mil for this? Comon, what a joke. Once you cross Nostrand you are the East Flatbush, thats only 2 blocks away! Houses there sell for 300-400k a piece. I think property in PLG is amazing, and worth a pretty penny. But I think $1.2ish and higher for any of these houses is absurd. Wonder if the broker told them that it was over priced or if they just blew smoke up thier ass and said we’re going to get you a “Manhattan” buyer. There have been a few fixer uppers in the neighborhood that have sold recently for around 550-600k. How much does it cost to do a major reno like this and restore details? Maybe 350-500k at most (assume 100k per floor if you gut it)…your at a mil. Thats what these are worth done up right.
Seriously, the “this far out” comment is rather silly – it’s 25 minutes, door to door, from the Q at the Prospect Park Station to Union Square, plus the advantage of easy train transfers at Atlantic Avenue if so desired – kind of puts central Park Slope, with its choice between the G/F or a hike to the north Slope for other trains, to shame.
And even if you could find a similar house to this one in Park Slope, you couldn’t touch it for less than $2.9 million or so.
There’s nothing wrong with that kitchen.I don’t like white cabinets but other than that, its beautiful. You sure you’re looking at the right photos, ppwest?
Just WHY would that kitchen have to be replaced and, other than the lack of photos, is there any indication that the five bathrooms need replacing?
That being said,I haven’t seen the interior of this house and the price seems rather high. However FWIW this row of four story houses is my personal favorite in Lefferts Manor.
Wow, this place stinks of old people and faux-museum type artifacts. This place needs a “While You Were Out” interior design fix, and then maybe it will sell for asking. Too many layers/textures of fabrics/rugs/linens…I am overwhelmed just looking at the pics.
