House of the Day: 26 Willow Street
There’s lots to choose from if you are a deep-pocketed buyer with a hankering for a house on Willow Street. Back in December, 69 Willow Street ($5,750,000) was a House of the Day, followed by 46 Willow Street ($4,000,000) and 47 Willow Street ($2,400,000) in February. And of course, there’s the mother of them all, Truman Capote’s former crib at 70 Willow, which is still for sale at the reduced price of $15,900,000. Now, as Curbed noted yesterday, there’s one more to add to the list: 26 Willow Street, a gorgeous 23-foot-wide Greek Revival house that just hit the market with an asking price of $3,800,000. Sweetness.

Dave, I’m not sure about the specifics, I was just trying to note that there ARE other Greek revivals around our Borough. While this one looks very nice, there are others out there outside of Brooklyn Heights.
11217, you can’t even compare the two. One is a cut-up, badly maintained house above the G line, with lots of potential but on a busy street, the other an amazing, well-maintained house on one of the best residential streets in BH, that needs a gentle upgrade in the kitchen and bathrooms. Have you had a look at the back porches?
Brooklyn Heights approaching Park Slope peak. Market is totally falling again. Stimulii bandaid off. Market soon half off.
“a lack of interesting retail and restaurants leaves some of the younger buyers going a little further into Brooklyn” – 11217
Excuses, excuses…

Jessi,
I LOVE the heights. I’m there quite often taking walks…especially when the weather is nice. I think it’s one of the most lovely areas of Brooklyn. The notion that I don’t like it is totally false. I’m just saying that the prices are a tad high. Given the buildup of inventory of upper end homes, while homes in the other prime Brownstone hoods are flying off the shelves would seem to indicate a problem with current pricing…it has nothing to do with my enjoyment of the area and its beauty.
11217 – when’s the last time you’ve been for a stroll around the north heights? It really is a special place, and not just because I live there : )
11217, although I love that house and I think it was a steal, isn’t it right next door to a large buildable lot????
NYGuy7: I thought it was BHS policy not to post pictures of the baths?
Well here’s a Greek Revival in Ft. Greene. 22 feet wide built in 1849. Sold for 1.9 million in December.

There are also some beautiful Greek Revivals in Boreum Hill, CG and even Bay Ridge.
part of joy in paying this much for a house is knowing how many cant afford it – that is part of the richie rich thinking (ie why the F do I want to buy a house in a hood where some kid will buy right next door)
