This new listing at 121 Vanderbilt Avenue has a very charming rustic vibe going on. In addition to the wide-plank floorboards and original moldings on the lower floors, the top floor has a log-cabin-meets-Parisian-garrett thing happening. It’s safe to say that plenty of buyers are bound to take a liking to this place, but given the location on the north side of Myrtle and the relative shallowness of the house (35 feet), it’ll be interesting to see if the asking price of $1,499,000 is realistic.

  1. I don’t get the hate either. One of my favorite HOTDs I’ve seen! Beautiful wood floors, exposed brick and beam, lovely marble fireplace, two terraces and garden…
Love the blend of rustic charm and period detail. It seems so comforting and warm.

  2. Cute place, but I always like to see a ground floor kitchen. My reasoning is that I won’t be a young buck forever and accidents happen and some point later on in my old age, I’d like to keep all/most of my living confined to a lower floor.

As the house is currently set up I’d wind up sleeping either on the parlor floor, which would lose me a lovely entertaining space or my old bones are schlepping to the 3rd floor.

  3. Laughing my ass off.

Next to the (middle income) projects, near the old mural for ‘Ben’ who got shot near the liquor store, hard up on the BQE, far from all trains, even the ‘G’.

    Less than 1M.

  4. I like this place, it very much appeals to my bohemian tastes. Love the garrett, the kitchen, the funky fireplaces, almost everything.

The money part, well, HOTD’s are just fantasy for me anyway, and it’s fun to see what people do with their homes. This one was fun.
