houseWith today’s posting, 1070 Bergen becomes, we believe, the only place to have been a HOTD three times. So far, the extra exposure hasn’t helped bring about a sale. In the meantime, the price has fluctuated a fair bit. Back in October 2005, it was listed at $899,000; then in August of this year it was down to $799,000 before rising to its current ask of $829,000. The current listing provides more transparency than we’ve gotten before. We now know the address and get to see a few interior photos. Gotta say, the place is in much better shape than we would have guessed. The house, it turns out, has been in the same house for at least four decades, maybe longer. Frankly, we’re surprised it hasn’t sold. We guess it could have something to do with that facade, which will cost a pretty penny to return to its former glory.

  1. You have to change the oil burner, its practically extinct and before moving in, make sure to get ALL the lead paint off. The old lady who owns it hasn’t signed with any exclusive broker because she is not serious seller. Don’t waste your time or energy as the house also has asbestos.

  2. I personally think balls of steel is a good thing, if you got em’ and want to tell the world, go for it.

I mean, this Bush guy got in to this stupid war, he listened to Dick Cheney, the craziest person to ever serve as VP.

I would buy the house, but acces to the subways is a problem

  3. Finally, an opportunity for someone with balls of steel. You don’t know what it’s been like dragging them around from job interview to job interview…And flying is so embarassing these days when I try to explain why I set off the metal detectors. Thanks for the heads up, 2:30!!

  4. For an investor with balls of steel who doesn’t mind waiting several years it could be a decent investment.

I’d rather raise a family in a tiny apartment in a safer hood. . . . but that’s just me.

  5. I’ve visited this house two weeks ago. The block is full of drug dealers and users. The house was in need of work, but you could have moved in and do the work later. The problem is the drug trafficking which was very visible during day light.
