House of the Day: 362 Bainbridge Street
Did anyone make it to the open house at 362 Bainbridge. If the current owner’s not doing a hatchet job on the interior, this place could be interesting at $669,000. No interior pics on the Aguayo website and little detail but we like the facade. And how about the location? It looks like the neighboring…

It looks like the neighboring houses are in decent shape on the outside, although they both have a bad case of the white vinyl windows! Did anyone see any other interesting open houses?

To anon at 9:41. The reason why I consider myself naive is that despite most of my friends warning me about moving to Bed Stuy, i felt relatively safe and thought their warnings were rooted in racism. The fact is they were just being smart. shit happens everywhere, but i gotta say it happens more in Bed Stuy. I could go through a whole list of shit that’s happened in the 2+ years since i’ve been there. I have great neighbors and good friends in the neighborhood now, so i will stick around, but i’ll just look over my shoulder from now on.
pooping
It’s funny how all of the white people in FG, CH and BS are racists. I guess that is why they live in “diverse” neighborhoods that are 80% or more black, they like to fuel their inner hatred….
We may be pilgrims in BedStuy but we are not acting as if our housing projects are any better or worse than any other housing project. The facts are simple….anyone who purchased in CH/FG/BS has to contend with projects and people who are economicaly depessed.
FYI, I am sure the white president who fired Cornell West would not have lived in Brooklyn at all.
“Once again the temerity of a “pilgrim”
Why isn’t Cornell West not considered a scholar in your eyes?”
You’re just as much of a pilgrim as anyone else. Bed-Stuy and Brooklyn in general was around long before you or any of your family lived there, so none of us are originals except the Native Americans.
Cornell West’s writings are pure fluff. He does nothing but regurgitate hackneyed and simplistic phrases from the 60s. Nothing original or insightful in his work. He left Harvard after the college president criticized him for not publishing enough scholarly work and for focusing too much time on best-selling books and a rap CD. Rather than rise to the president’s challenge, he left in a huff and, as usual, cried racism.
1:04: if you read the posts you’d see obvious concern about all people being priced out, not just white people. I bought 8 yeas ago and I’m quite worried about the future of B’klyn. Sounds to me like you’re only one who is only thinking of him/herself.

My point was that I hear a lot of White people complaining about being priced out of NYC. I did not hear any concern from them when poor people were priced out.
$700K apparently is affordable enough to some, so I guess you’ll have to get to packing to the burbs.
Oh yea! I forgot to mention I have more than a few choice brownstones for sale in excess of $700K. I get a chuckle when I think about who I’ll be selling to: The hyper educated (Black and White)who should of bought at least 5 years ago.
“WHO the hell can afford this type of money in the first place?”
Plenty of people. That’s why prices continue to rise.
“To quote Cornell West on when the opressor became opressed on 9/11 “Now you know what it feels like to be a nigger: You just been niggerized…” ”
Ha! Ha! If you’re going to try to play the role of the intellectual, at least use quotes from a genuine scholar, not a pop culture throwaway. This sounds like something a 6th grader would write.
anon 9:28 there are projects on Classon and Dekalb. I would say that’s Clinton Hills.
Overall, many of the posters here make slick comments about the PJs and when they get called on it they act surprised that they’ve offended people of color from these areas.
You MFs are just plain insensitive. You worry about the future of NYC when brownstones in the hood cost 700K. WHO the hell can afford this type of money in the first place?
You were not worried when the people FROM these area were being priced out. But now it getting too expensive for the pilgims AND now it’s a problem. You guys are the victims.
