A McCain Outpost in Blue Park Slope
Hey, don’t assume that Park Slope will go blue on November 4th. Four brownstones on 11th Street are adorned with McCain signs (though residents had to travel to New Jersey to get them). Hey, don’t assume that Park Slope will go blue on November 4th. Four brownstones on 11th Street are adorned with McCain signs (though residents had to travel to New Jersey to get them). Writes the NY Times, “The election district that includes 11th Street has 643 registered voters: 51 of them Republicans, 452 Democrats, 23 in other parties and 117 who did not list a party. That breakdown is echoed by the overwhelmingly Democratic makeup of Assembly District 52, as well as that of Brooklyn, which voted 79 percent for Senator John Kerry in 2004.” The McCain supporters are old school Slopers, writes the Times: residents from long before the Manhattan exodus who say the block was full of Roman Catholics and firemen when they arrived. But donkeys and elephants alike seem to be getting along: old and new, Obama and McCain-lovers. As one Democratic neighbor said about his neighbor’s signs, “To me, that says the person’s possibly open to some dialogue.

“we are FIGHTING TWO WARS”
No, we are paying for two very costly (in terms of money and lives) INVASIONS.
what else would constitute a “douche?”
Lots of things but off the top of my head….
Adults who buy clothes and accessories as a reflection their politics – i.e. the Birkenstock wearing, Saab SUV driving schmucks
People who stop a cab on a one-way street and only THEN start looking for their money (and backup traffic) as thought they didnt notice the large meter telling them WELL IN ADVANCE how much cash they will need to pay.
People who make up lame excuses (as thought they are so busy) to get out of the SINGLE civic duty our country asks you to perform – jury duty
I can think of many more but that should get you started.
No, hes going to be el Presidente for life, with Stalin Palin as his chief of police.
ENY, get a grip. He can’t have his term extended. he has to be voted back in. reality check.
“He won’t win a third term through the council He will win it through the election and the polls currently say that he will. Q.E.D.”
Huh? Bloomberg doesn’t WANT an election, and furthermore there is NO election scheduled. Bloomberg has been seeking to pass a City Council resolution to change the term limits law and AVOID a vote. The Council will vote on this Thursday. RIF.
Even in all my years living in Chicago (1978-1994) I’ve never seen a slimier, more divisive politician than Sheldon Silver.
I don’t know why people get so hett up about Bloomy, who is pretty transparent in his dealings, when city council member’s slush funds eat up city taxes and the mob in Albany are no less corrupt than the guys who used to run the docks.
I wish people would get so motivated when it came to non-mayoral politicians.
“I’m not obsessed with signs – I just think that people who put these political signs up are douches……”
Ummm, I think that statement speaks for itself. But, giving you the benefit of the doubt, what else would constitute a “douche?”
Term limits should apply to Sheldon Silver. Perhaps thats what people thought they were voting about.
