Seems like auction is off. I called the plaintiff’s attorney and they confirmed that the file is closed. Seems like the owners paid the lien.
1842 – do you know how I Can find out when my brownstone was built? I live on Lefferts between Grand and Classon. BTW – how do you know all fo this information?
I bet it goes for 450,000 at auction.
1842…yes, there is some carriage house structure as per the DOB site and propertyshark. The carriage house seems to be about 600 sf.
This house has been unoccuppied for years. I know several people who have wanted to buy it but the owner is rumored to have refused to sell. It’s really a shame how it has been neglected so I hope it is actually purchased.
It was built in the 1870s, has an extra long lot (maybe 120 feet) and a separate two story carriage house structure in the back that is accessible by a laneway that runs behind the house and is accessible from Lefferts Place (yes you could park your car there). Has its original front doors, a nice Japanese maple in the front yard, but would likely be a gut job on the interior after being neglected for so long. It’s a great block (which will hopefully be landmarked as a part of the Clinton Hill landmark extension) for someone with the desire to fix this place up.
Interesting history on one of the house’s former residents who was on the Lusitania when it sunk.

I didn’t read all the violations, but one or two mentions
“unsafe building”
“roof is in Damper of Collapse, Roof Rotten and Large Holes Noted”
“FAILURE TO MAINTAIN BUILDING DEFECT TO ARE LOOSE UNKEYED BULDGING BRICKWORK AT EAST CENTER MISSING SECOND BRICK WORK AT WORK AT WEST WALL IN DANGER OF FALLING FROM STRUCTURE REAR OF ROOF”
FYI – West Wall sounds like the rear of building, because in another violation they refer to the front facade as ‘East Wall’
One of the violations mentions a ‘Carriage House’….hhhmmmm
Seriously, how do I buy this?
I bet 300k
one catch is that you won’t be able to get in to see it. Assume the worst…no roof, no interior.
Can we follow up to see what this goes for?? I say $200-275k. Not such a bad looking street from Streetview.
The cinder blocks add an interesting modern element to the facade, I think. Much better than those white frames on either side.
