  1. There is a neglected brownstone on Garfield Place between 6th and 7th avenues. I feel really sorry for the occupants on either side of it. I believe an acrimonious divorce has led to the disintigration of that building.

  2. There’s a neglected brownstone on the corner of Henry and maybe Kane, right by LICH that is so wrecked. It’s so odd, b/c most other brownstones around there are so well-cared for. How long has that thing been like that? Is it owned by LICH? Why??? Why???

  3. billy,

I feel the same way as you, except it has to do with a similarly neglected brownstone on 2nd Place, then there is the place on Kane Street. It just makes me mad that people let this happen.

  4. I thought it would get paid off. I’ve heard that’s happened numerous times in the past. What B.S. People have wanted to buy this place and fix it up for many years, and this jerk of an owner just let’s it rot and refuses to sell it.

  5. The details of your house, and others in Clinton Hill, are in the documents that were put together for landmarking in the 80s, and recently resubmitted for the landmark extension application. The oldest houses on the street are the remaining frame houses (some dating from the mid 1850s). Oldest rowhouses are the ones on the St. James to Grand Avenue block (1861 to late 1870s, the oldest ones are closest to St. James Place). I can’t recall the dates on the next block, but I’m pretty sure all the rowhouses were built by the late 1870s. The report has details of the builder/architect and when built…
