This mid 20th century one-bedroom offers an appealing amount of storage, a generously sized foyer, and attractive original details. The no-fee rental is located on the fourth floor of a co-op building at 601 East 19th Street in Flatbush, just outside the historic bounds of Ditmas Park.

Originally known as the Hampshire Arms, the six-story, red-brick elevator building was designed by Seelig & Finkelstein and opened as a rental in 1942. The dramatic Colonial Revival-style entrance with double-height columns caught the attention of the Brooklyn Eagle that same year. The building went co-op in 2004.

This unit has the expected arched doorways, niche with shelves in the foyer, and wood floors of the era. The foyer also includes three of the five closets in the apartment and a large archway that opens to the almost 20-foot-long living room.

A dining nook with a tile floor is set off from the kitchen by an arched opening on plinths. The recently renovated kitchen has white cabinets and marble countertops, according to the listing. There isn’t a dishwasher, but there is a wine cooler. The layout is a bit tricky if you want to be able to open the fridge without bumping into someone working at the stove, but there is a window and plenty of counter space.

The bedroom benefits from two exposures and has a ceiling fan. Walls and trim throughout the unit are painted white, but the bathroom has a pop of color with period blue wall tiles and blue and white floor tiles.
