It looks like the Eastern part of Bed Stuy has caught up to Stuy Heights in price. A renovated three-story brownstone at 739 Macon Street between Ralph and Howard Avenue is in contract. The ask is just shy of a million — $999,000 — probably to avoid the mansion sales tax. We won’t know the actual sales price until it closes and hits public records, of course. The location is in the proposed Stuyvesant East Historic District, one block west of Saratoga Park. The property traded hands for $325,000 last year.

  1. According to the developers in 1892 Stuyvesant Heights started at Tompkins going east bounded by Fulton in the south and Lafayette in the north. By 1900 this area of MacDonough is called Stuyvesant Heights.

  2. Sold last year for 325k, so I’m guessing it was in pretty bad shape. Although not exactly my taste I do give the renovation two thumbs up for not just tearing everything down and throwing up drywall.
