Seems like success may be going to the heads of the developers behind Williamsburg’s wildly popular boutique condo conversion at 72 Berry Street known as the Mason Fisk building. According to a thread on StreetEasy, at least a couple of buyers who thought they had a verbal deal were pushed aside at the eleventh hour without a chance to even match a higher bid. “I am waiting for karma or whatever hit them on the ass,” wrote one of the would-be buyers. And what is the “eleventh hour”? Is that when the contract is out for review?
Serious buyers and sellers know that there’s no deal unless a contract is signed and a deposit is put down.

It’s a cold game. You have nothing without a written contract and even sometimes without a close. Those would-be buyers knew the game and would have done the same thing and should be good sports. But the cold game works in reverse during the collapse so now it’s time for the developers to be good sports in the face of cancellations and table-walkaways.
