Here’s an attractive two-bedroom in a prewar building across from Prospect Park for under half a million bucks. The 850-square-foot unit at 175 Prospect Park Southwest has nice architectural details, two real bedrooms and an attractively renovated kitchen. On the flip side, it’s on the second floor and faces the interior courtyard, not the park; there’s also only one bathroom. But, at $598, the maintenance is quite reasonable. What do you make of the $480,000 asking price?

  1. No, a dining room is not a waste of space. Thats where the table goes, you have eaten on one? Your parents had one, didn’t they?? Plus, you can make the room what ever suits your family’s needs, so it doesn’t have to be a dining room.

But you right, I don’t want to sit at a breakfeast bar to eat my cheerios, I want to sit at a table, with four chairs.
I want to look at the person sitting in front of me, not on the side of me.
I want to be able to spread out my newspaper and read it.
and no, I don’t need a dishwahser to wash out my cheerio bowl, I am capable of washing a bowl out myself…..

    oh well………..

  2. I’ve never considered a dining room a “waste of space.” I don’t really understand that: It’s another room, another common room. It can be used for anything, either in addition to or instead of a dining room. And that living room is small! It’s CERTAINLY small for a living/dining room — it’s positively cramped.

  3. “The dining room was a waste of space though. Do you really need a room that big for a table for three? ”

stargazer does – god forbid he had to eat his cream-of-wheat in the mornings at a breakfast bar! the horror!

  4. Yes, I agree, the room with the French doors was probably originally the Dining Room, (there are no closets) since the kitchen has no where to put a table and four chairs, and years ago people sat a table….not a breakfeast bar…..

    But it looks pretty decent.
