Fans of original woodwork are going to dig this parlor floor unit at 557 3rd Street in the Slope. Between the mantel, door moldings and built-ins, the stuff is everywhere; there are also parquet floors, original stained glass and pocket doors. If you only need one-bedroom, the 1,054-square-foot set-up would be particularly luxurious, since you’d then have a dedicated dining room with bay windows. The listing’s only been up for a couple of weeks, so it’ll be interesting to see how the asking price of $859,000 flies.

Yes, feels like $100,000 too much given the drawbacks. But that’s just a feeling. Don’t know for sure.
oops, never mind, I though this was about another listing.
Well, just physics. Light can’t turn corners. It’s just not possible to have much natural light in either the living room, or, especially, the kitchen. Look at the floor plan.
How can you tell? There’s no picture of the kitchen, only the hallway. Bedsides, judging from the few pics they did post they look like they were taken on a cloudy day in winter.
Oh, oops. Sorry for somehow reposting that.
I don’t know. Lovely rooms and woodwork, but .. .. very little natural light for the whole living room/kitchen area. Problem for me.
Long floor thrus are a problem. They just are. Dammit. The ratio has to be fat enough if you’re only going to have light only on the short ends, and if one (or two!) of those endrooms are going to be closed off part of the time, well, trouble. Though I suppose there are people who don’t crave light. Freaks.
Definitely a beautiful space in a prime location. But overpriced given the lack of closet space, dark interiors, funky sleeping spaces and lack of garden access. Will be very interesting to see what this sells for!
The living room and kitchen look like they would be dark as a cave. You would need to have the lights on all the time. But I like the finishes and the two bathrooms.
