This two-bedroom FSBO listing just popped up on the Brownstoner Marketplace and caught our eye for what looks to be a successful balance of original charm and modern updating. While we don’t always love exposed brick, in this case it works pretty well. The railroad-y configuration may not be to everyone’s liking, but the kitchen renovation is on of the nicer ones we’ve seen in an apartment of this size recently. Given that this place sold pre-renovation in 2005 for $610,000, what do you make of the $710,000 asking price? There’s an open house on August 1st but don’t bring your broker—they’re strictly verboten on this one.

  1. Lesloaf: The feature exists, but it’s a bit hidden. First find any listing that you know is zoned for a particular school. Then under the Local Schools section, click on the school you want. That brings you to the profile page for the school and below that there is a Listings section where you can choose to either search for sales or rentals zoned to that school. Click one of those options and it will take you to a normal Streeteasy search page, but restricted to the school zone.

  2. Maly, is there actually a way to search for listings by school zone? I don’t think so. I think you have to do separate research on school zones, and then target your real estate search accordingly. But that would be an excellent feature on Streeteasy. They should totally do that.

  3. Ha, rf, you have a suspicious mind!
It’s a hard line to walk between trust and market; on the one hand, Mr. B needs to make money, I’m sure even in Berlin, an afternoon at the Soho House doesn’t come cheap. On the other, no-one likes to feel taken advantage of. If the site becomes all go and no breaks, like a cheap BQE whoor, it won’t be so interesting (see NYT real estate section.)
