Co-op of the Day: 59 Pineapple Street, #6G
We’re surprised there wasn’t some better staging work done at this new listing at 59 Pineapple Street in Brooklyn Heights. The small one-bedroom sure could have used it. For $340,000 in Brooklyn Heights, no one’s going to expect hugeness, but this place could have put a much better foot forward. (A floorplan would have been helpful too.) The co-op traded hands back in 2006 for $300,000, so the current asking price can’t be too far off the mark but better not to take any chances!

Yeah — studios and miniature apartments are available in Chicago and Boston etc… BUT they are for renting. You don’t *buy* 300 sq ft. No you don’t.
And you would probably rent a place like this for around the $600 (or not much more) you are paying for the monthly maintenance here.
So, the broker decided to put up a floorplan now? Now, Ms. Broker, what can we do about the pics? (not that better pics will change the fact that this is an overpriced closet)
Tybur — or a tiny apartment for about $180K. But it’s kind of hard ot find apartments this small there.
I’m not sure if there are 300 sq ft broom closets for sale in Chicago….
I agree that I wouldn’t pay $2000 to rent this place, but obviously there are a number of people who will because they want the BH address and are not able to find a R/S apartment that is significantly cheaper. And it is a top floor apartment, so even if it does face a “courtyard” aka airwell it will have some light.
Also, on the plus side, because it is so small, it would probably be less expsnsive to renovate.
There is a floorplan. It really looks like a one-bedroom created from a studio…
In Chicago… $340,000 would get you about 1000 more square feet, a nicer *much* nicer kitchen and so on.
Ugh, it just depresses the hell out of me to look at rooms full of people’s crappy crap!
Studio sold in this building for $270 not long ago. Would estimate $300-315 for this, kind of in between a studio and a 1 bed.
Mistake to take photos with the blinds closed as the light would probably be good as it’s on the 6th floor (and lol @ the little keyboard).
